buying the canyon endurace 7 because it made the most sense
the homelab got to the point where everything technically worked, but touching one cable felt like a high-risk operation.
not in a:
“this is the only bike i’ll ever love”
kind of way.
more like:
“yeah, that’s probably the aspirational road bike for a lot of people.”
by that point i’d already gone through a few bikes:
- a 2020 specialized allez (sold)
- a 2022 jamis s2 (stored)
- and a marin san quentin for trails and general off-road stupidity (sold)
so this wasn’t my first upgrade cycle.
i already knew what kind of riding i actually enjoyed:
- longer rides
- endurance-focused riding
- climbing occasionally against my will
- and spending enough time on the saddle that comfort eventually matters more than ego
but once i really thought about:
- how i ride
- what i ride
- and what i realistically wanted to spend
the Canyon Endurace 7
just made more sense.
especially with the payment terms available at the time.
not because it was the “cheap” option. it wasn’t.
i’ll probably end up buying that tarmac in the future, but it just didn’t make sense right now.
